Join us in this very special session: Mariá will present her wonderful first solo record and answer our questions after listening to it. Enjoy with us Erosão’s profound sound in which tropicalismo, jazz and electronic music blend together!
The Germany-based Brazilian drummer, singer, composer and producer Maria Portugal has been active in the São Paulo music scene for more than 20 years. She recorded, performed and toured throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania with artists such as Elza Soares, Metá Metá, Arrigo Barnabé, Quartabê, Maggie Nicols, Anthony Braxton, Fred Frith, Nick Dunston and Tomeka Reid. As a composer, she has been performing and composing original music for dance, theatre and cinema. Since 2021 she is one of the curators of the Soundtrips-NRW free improvisation program.
PLEASE NOTICE: Starting from March, we’ll ask for a contribution of 5 Euro for each session. We love what we do and your contribution will allow us to invite more musicians and invest in both records and equipment. Tickets will be available only at the door. No reservations, sorry!

✨ No room for squares is dedicated to the discovery, promotion and shared listening of genre-challenging music: artists and records that don’t fit into specific categories but bend and break the boundaries between and across them. We love the visionaries, the outsiders, those who dare to look into the abyss and are not scared to explore new ways.
