This session will be extra-special! Ahmed not only released one of the most impressive free/impro Jazz LPs of the year on the beloved label Astral Spirits but also took this year’s Jazzfest Berlin by storm with a powerful performance that left the whole audience (including us) completely speechless.
Joel Grip – double bassist of Ahmed – will join us tonight to present the record and to talk about the band, Ahmed Abdul-Malik’s music, the role of bass in jazz and much much more. Let’s then listen this middle-eastern-jazz-minimalistic-groovy-monster together – the record is *INTENSE*
