Gianni Gebbia – first solo Lp (Soundevent, 1985)
Listening session and artist talk!
For our night nr. 19 we have the pleasure to have the artist as a guest, introducing us to the record as well as his almost 40 years long career.
Gianni Gebbia has practiced improvised music since the early 80’s and recorded around 80 albums, collaborating with many composers and musicians from Peter Kowald to Heiner Goebbels, from Fred Frith to (more recently) Tony Buck.
Together with Evan Parker, he pioneered circular breathing techniques: “[Gebbia’s] works touches on the avantgarde whilst maintaining a musicality and fluidity with his technique of circular breathing adding an extra element to his playing, the ability to create Reichian-like minimalism with a single breath whilst maintaining melodic structure” (Phonica Mag.)
Discover with us his first private-press LP, where he laid the foundation of his artistic research, crossing the bridge between traditional and experimental music stratifying each sound carefully to create deeply moving atmosphere.
